Kolkata: Trinamool Congress supporters put up road blockades and agitated on Tuesday, protesting the attack on councillor Mithun Tikadar. He was shot inside his party office at Chitligunj in Budge Budge by two miscreants, identified as Md Kayesh and Kamal Khan, on Monday night.Tikadar had identified the duo and informed the police about them. He went through a major abdominal surgery on Monday night at a private hospital in Ekbalpore. Later, he was shifted to the Advanced Intensive Care Unit (AICU). According to the spokesperson from the hospital, Tikadar is recovering but his condition is still critical. He has been kept under observation. Locals informed that Tikadar had reached his party office a few moments after from the foundation stone laying ceremony of Charial Bridge by Abhishek Banerjee. After that he went inside the party office and was talking to the party workers when Kayesh and Khan shot him from outside through an open window. Later they hurled two bombs to create panic among the locals, making a safe passage to flee. Local Trinamool leaders alleged that BJP is behind the attack on Tikadar, as he had worked well to develop ward 20 from where he was elected as a councillor for the first time. Sleuths had conducted multiple raids on Monday night to nab the duo but were not able to trace either of them. Police have circulated their pictures with other police units across the state.
