Fischer, a member of the Drake men’s cross country and track and field teams finished fourth at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind., with a time of 8:04.98 in the 3,000 meters. He shattered the previous Drake school record in this event, which was set in 2000 by Matt Gabrielson with a time of 8:06.44. This time also ranks as the second fastest time in Missouri Valley Conference this season and one of the Top 30 times in the nation. Fischer and the men and women’s track and field teams travel to Iowa State on Feb. 10 and 11 to compete in the Iowa State Classic. Academically, Fischer holds a 3.81 grade point average and is a double major in English and Public Relations.
